Wild Goose Festival Starting Soon!

Wild Goose Festival Starting Soon!

Wild Goose Festival is back for another year with a fun-filled programme of inspiring and educational family-friendly activities and events across Dumfries & Galloway.

The ten-day festival runs from 18th – 27th October 2024, weaving art, culture, and nature together through a series of activities from interactive storytelling, conversations to inspiring performances and creative workshops for all the family.

Solway Firth Partnership’s Solway Shore Action Project have developed two exhibitions as part of the Wild Goose Festival.

At WWT Caerlaverock the panels reveal the surprising parallels between the amazing distances undertaken by wildlife migration and the routes travelled by marine plastics. Buoyant plastics in the Solway are driven by wind and waves across to the Norwegian coast and north towards the Arctic Circle potentially taking a similar route that barnacle geese fly in the spring.

At The Stove Cafe, Dumfries the exhibition also explores the collective action required to gather marine plastics and what happens to it when it is removed by Dumfries and Galloway Council. The Stove Cafe is also exhibiting artwork by Linda Mallett that is inspired by finds on the strandline.
