Wheels & Water Wellbeing Festival – Get Down on the Beach in Stranraer on 7 June.
Come along to the festival in Agnew Park on Saturday 7 June where you can ride bikes, play on the beach, dip in the sea, learn about the sea, join a yoga class, try QiGong and so much more.
Stranraer is getting brand new water sports facilities. Find out more and try your hand at water sports with FREE taster sessions for everyone by the Stranraer Water Sports Association. It is also the Skiffie World Championships on Loch Ryan 6-12 of July. Why not have a go and see what it is all about. You maybe the next champion team member they are looking for. Bring swim wear and towels in case you decide to join in any of the sports. The water sports are available 9.30 am – 12pm for high tide. The Skiffs will be available for a little longer.
Join Nic Coomby, Solway Firth Partnership’s coastal expert, at 3pm for a short low tide seashore walk to see what is revealed when the sea retreats.
From bread crumb sponge to peacock worm and turban top shell to oyster thief, discover the amazing wildlife lurking at the water’s edge on the beach. The sea edge is wet so wear waterproof footwear or trainers that you don’t mind getting damp and muddy!
You will also find the amazing Beach Cleaning Group, ONUS, and meet Kerry Monteith who is passionate about keeping our amazing coast clean but she can’t do it alone. Meet Kerry and learn about what rubbish comes up on our shores and why it is important to keep them clean. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful land. If you would like to help, speak with Kerry at the festival.
You will find both Kerry and Nic down on the beach all day.
