South West Scotland Consultation Events Announced for Proposed National Park in Galloway

South West Scotland Consultation Events Announced for Proposed National Park in Galloway.

The pre-consultation meetings, conversations and fieldwork in the area proposed by Scottish Government for a new National Park have drawn to a close. The NatureScot staff who work locally in South West Scotland, and nationally, appreciate the thoughts, comments and ideas so many residents, communities, businesses, public bodies and other interested parties have contributed so far. That vital input, alongside NatureScot fieldwork, has helped shape the options to be formally and publicly consulted on from November onwards e.g. the geographical area, functions and board membership of the proposed park.

A number of consultation events will be held across south Scotland. These events will be facilitated by independent consultants, on behalf of NatureScot, and all attendees will be supported to feel free to share their thoughts and opinions in a safe environment. There will be sessions within each event asking for responses on different topics, and interactive boards and spaces, as well as opportunities to leave anonymous feedback, and to complete a consultation leaflet in writing.
