SFP Project Officer Wins Award!

SFP Project Officer Wins Award!

Shovi Anjum, SFP’s CLEARcoasts Project Officer, won the prestigious North West Coastal Forum (NWCF) Coastal Champion, Early Careers Award at the 2025 NWCF Conference in Carlisle.

The North West Coastal Forum conference was held on Thursday 6 March at the Station Hotel in Carlisle, followed by a site visit to the Cumbrian Solway Coast on Friday 7 March to look at and take part in the SFP CLEARcoasts Project work to trial saltmarsh restoration.

SFP is very proud that Shovi has won this award.  It was well deserved for her leading role in community engagement to drive long-term coastal resilience, addressing key challenges in conservation by trying to connect data-driven decision-making with inclusive practices. Her contributions to carbon monitoring, hydrodynamic research and piloting coastal restoration, have established the groundwork for long-term environmental stewardship. Above all, through the work she has done, she advocates for valuing the connections built with landowners and community members, recognising them as essential partners in sustaining the UK’s coastal habitats.

Shovi will be holding a third CLEARcoasts Workshop on Sunday 23 March, so why not join her for a day out on the marsh deploying BESE-elements®, biodegradable structures made from potato waste-products.

Free snacks, refreshments and lunch will be supplied to help with your efforts!

More information and booking for this workshop is through Eventbrite

CLEARcoasts (2023-25) is a coastal restoration project funded by the Environment Agency’s Championing Coastal Coordination (3Cs) initiative and delivered in partnership with Swansea University and Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
