We are excited to announce our new initiative, the Buzzing Coastal Communities project. This new collaboration between the Solway Firth Partnership and Bee Positive DG8 will focus on highlighting and protecting important pollinator species across the DG8 area.
Running over summer/autumn 2026 the project will deliver a range of public activities, including guided coastal walks, info events and hands-on workshops. The project will incorporate a travelling exhibition along with community events to raise awareness of the critical role pollinators play in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Planned activities include hedge-laying and planting training and citizen science recording.
The scheme will enhance biodiversity by improving awareness, ID and land management skills, and will support the development of Nature Networks around the coastal areas of DG8. Look out for more information on our socials and e-newsletter.
