Severn Estuary Partnership Projects Officer

Are you passionate about working with people to make a positive difference for the future of our natural environment? An exciting new opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Projects Officer to join the Severn Estuary Partnership (SEP) team. SEP is a vibrant Coastal Partnership based in Cardiff (hosted by the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences) that works with all those involved in the management of the Severn Estuary from planners to port authorities, fishermen to farmers and importantly, local communities.

Applications are invited for a Projects Officer who will play a key role in contributing to the successful delivery of a variety of projects underway within the Partnership, including the exciting Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset project. The SEP Projects Officer will be an enthusiastic, positive and self-motivated person who enjoys working with a range of stakeholders. Within the Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset project, they will work with local communities along the Somerset coast to deliver local engagement campaigns related to beach quality, bathing water quality and coastal (litter) pollution issues, focusing on the Somerset coast.

In addition to the Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset project, there will also be opportunities to get involved in other projects such as Discover the Severn, and others on marine planning. They will also support SEP’s wider networking and engagement activities by supporting the Partnership Manager in the production of informative SEP communications, such as website updates, the monthly SEP e-newsletter and further developing our social media channels.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree in environmental management/geography (or equivalent qualifications) and appropriate experience in a related field; a wide understanding of stakeholder engagement techniques; excellent organisational and communication skills; good IT skills; experience of using social media to engage with the public; and a flexible and enthusiastic approach. A full driving licence with use of a vehicle is desirable.

Salary: £22,417 – £26,715 per annum (Grade 4).
