Robin Rigg Community Fund Now Open for Applications
Solway Firth Partnership (SFP) is once again running the Robin Rigg Community Fund for 2023 on both sides of the Solway Firth.
The Robin Rigg Community Fund, provided by RWE Renewables, is available to community groups and organisations in the eligible Solway area undertaking activities that contribute to the reduction of the effects of climate change or otherwise benefit the local community.
The fund opens today, Thursday 1 September 2022, to any organisation within the specified geographical area. They can apply for a grant of £1,000 to £15,000 (only once in each year of the fund). The deadline for applications to the Robin Rigg Community Fund will be 5pm on Thursday 3 November 2022. Further applications may be invited during 2023 if funds are available.
Clair McFarlan, Solway Firth Partnership Manager, said: “We are now inviting applications from communities around the Solway coast for projects that will provide benefit to the local community in the areas of Environment; Renewable energy; Energy efficiency; Sustainable development; Charity; Education; Community; and General community amenity schemes or projects. Some examples of projects funded in 2022 include: RSPB Mersehead’s purchase of a beach wheelchair and path widening to the beach, enabling access for visitors using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and prams; and the Sight Loss Lifeline Project – supporting the Resource & Information Centre for visually impaired people in Whitehaven.”
Mike Edwards, Robin Rigg General Manager, “I’m delighted that we are once again inviting applications for the fourth year of the Robin Rigg Community Fund through the Solway Firth Partnership. We’ve seen over the past few years that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a big adverse impact on many local charities and community groups, so we feel it is more important than ever to offer this support in our neighbouring communities. This fund provides a great opportunity for local communities to benefit in 2023 so why not apply!”
