New Round of Robin Rigg Community Fund Opens Today

Solway Firth Partnership (SFP) is once again running the Robin Rigg Community Fund for 2024 on both sides of the Solway Firth.

The Robin Rigg Community Fund, provided by RWE Renewables, is available to community groups and organisations in the eligible Solway area undertaking activities that contribute to the reduction of the effects of climate change or otherwise benefit the local community.

The fund opens today, Monday 28 August 2023, to any organisation within the specified geographical area.  They can apply for a grant of up to £15,000 (only once in each year of the fund). The deadline for applications to the Robin Rigg Community Fund will be 12 noon on Monday 6 November 2023. Further applications may be invited during 2024 if funds are available.

Clair McFarlan, Solway Firth Partnership Manager, said: “We are now inviting applications from communities around the Solway coast for projects that will provide benefit to the local community in the areas of Environment; Renewable energy; Energy efficiency; Sustainable development; Charity; Education; Community; and General community amenity schemes or projects. Some examples of projects funded in 2023 include: purchase of a marquee for the Colvend Community local gala; supporting Kirkcudbright Book Week; funding the Settlement in Maryport (provision of staffing / arts and community activities) and purchase of new equipment for the Eden Street Play Area in Silloth.”

Mike Edwards, Robin Rigg General Manager, “I’m delighted that we are once again inviting applications for the fifth year of the Robin Rigg Community Fund through the Solway Firth Partnership. If you have a worthwhile project that you’d like to see funded in the eligible area of Cumbria or Dumfries and Galloway Coast this is your chance to make it happen. This fund provides a great opportunity for local communities to benefit in 2024 so why not apply!”
