Solway Firth Partnership would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year!
And just a reminder, if you are out and about on the Solway over the festive season, do NOT touch or pick up any dead or sick birds that you come across. There are many dead barnacle geese on the Solway Coast but please do not touch any. Local organisations including RSPB Mersehead and WWT Caerlaverock are dealing with dead birds on their reserves.
In Great Britain, if you spot a single dead wild waterfowl (swans, geese or ducks), a single dead bird of prey, or five or more dead wild birds of any other species (including gulls) at the same place at the same time, you should report them to Defra’s national telephone helpline: 03459 33 55 77 (and select option 7).
