Great British Beach Clean Report for 2019 Now Out

Between the 20 – 23 September this year, over 10,800 volunteers took part in 437 beach cleans and litter surveys all over the UK, working together to clear an incredible 10,833kg of litter from our coastline. A massive thank you from Marine Conservation Society (MCS) to everyone that was involved.

Although MCS found an overall drop in litter levels, there’s still more work to be done. They’ve seen a 32% increase in drinks containers of all forms over the last 26 years, furthering the need for all-inclusive Deposit Return Schemes across the UK.

This year  MCS are celebrating 26 years of the Great British Beach Clean – take a look at the results in this MCS 2019 Report to see what’s changed since our records began in 1994.
