Exploring and Celebrating Our Marine Environment Workshop Invite – Allonby Bay on Thursday 24 October 2024.
Marine non-licensable activities
The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is responsible for assessing and managing impacts of marine non-licensable activities in HPMAs between 0 and 12 nautical miles (nm) in English waters. Marine non-licensable activities are those which do not require a marine licence (as defined by section 66 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009) and excludes all types of fishing.
To understand the impact of marine non-licensable activities on Allonby Bay HPMA, a site assessment will be completed. This provides information on the HPMA designated feature, details of what marine non-licensable activities take place within the area and the impact of these activities on the site feature.
Workshops
To help inform this site assessment and to better understand the stakeholder values and awareness of the area, the MMO will be holding two workshops in the Allonby area. The workshops aim to help them understand local use of Allonby Bay HPMA, and the value local residents, visitors and businesses draw from the area. If you are a stakeholder, the MMO would value your time and insights into these workshops to help them understand how the HPMA is used for recreation and any impacts that may result from activities so that they can work together to ensure its protection for future generations.
The workshops are planned for Thursday 24th October at a venue in the area:
