Birdlife on the Solway Webinar Now Available Online

The Birdlife on the Solway webinar, which took place on Thursday 12 May, featured two great speakers, showcasing the wide range of birds we can see across both sides of the Solway.

This Coastal Conversation included Andrew Bielinski from RSPB focussing on seabirds and the species found on the RSPB reserves on the Dumfries and Galloway coast. John Callion, a local bird ringer provided an insight into the identification and lives of a variety of the smaller birds such as willow warbler and blackcap found at Crosscanonby Reserve near Maryport. We also heard some bird song recordings to help identify those tricky species.

Listen in to hear the recordings or for some amazing facts about birds. One detail that sticks in the mind is that before migrating either north from Africa to Crosscanonby or south on the return journey, the warblers have to moult every feather and regrow new ones!
