On Friday 30 August, Solway Firth Partnership (SFP) will visit three locations along the Solway Cumbrian Coast on a Red Routemaster Bus to talk to people about their coast and sea.
SFP staff will be on the Big Red Bus to welcome visitors on board to learn more about marine planning in the Solway and why it might be important to them. Posters explaining marine planning will be displayed and there will be an opportunity for the visitors to leave their opinions about what is most important to them about the sea and coast.
The locations for the Big Red Bus to visit on Friday 30 August are:
- Silloth Waterfront car park: 10.00am to 12.30pm
- Allonby Beach car park: 1.00pm to 4.00pm
- Maryport Harbourside (opposite the Aquarium): 4.30pm to 6.30pm
Clair McFarlan, Solway Firth Partnership Manager, said: “We will be travelling along the Solway Coast on the Big Red Bus to explain to local people and visitors why marine planning might be important to them and how they can learn more or get involved.”
The new SFP publication ‘The Solway Cumbrian Coast’ Beach and Explorer’s Guide will be available to all the visitors coming on board. This new free guide, funded by Allerdale Borough Council, the Solway Coast AONB and Copeland Borough Council, provides lots of information about places to visit for all the family along with some interesting facts you might not have heard about before.
This event is being delivered by Solway Firth Partnership as part of the Marine Management Organisation’s Enhancing Stakeholder Engagement project, and Marine Scotland’s SMILE Project, both funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
