Galloway Glens – One Last Thing.
The Galloway Glens Scheme is an initiative of Dumfries & Galloway Council’s Environment Team, supported by the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere and funded by a range of partners including The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Drax, the owners of the Galloway Hydro Scheme.
Since 2018, the Galloway Glens Scheme has been supporting, leading and catalysing activity in the Ken/Dee valley seeking to connect people to our amazing heritage, boost the local economy and support sustainable communities. This work has been across six main aims that vary from education and addressing youth depopulation in the region, through to providing visitor facilities and access opportunities. The Scheme has taken a ‘place-based’ approach, drawing together a range of disciplines and activity to focus on the valley. Galloway Glens are so grateful to everyone involved, from volunteers and project partners, through to the range of funders that have supported them.
The Scheme comes to an end on 30th September and Galloway Glens are holding a short and fun event on the 26th September which will aim to draw together all strands of activity, assess results and highlight key learning points.
This public event will include voices from the Galloway Glens Team, key partners and will also mark the launch of the ‘Galloway Glens: Measuring Success’ report, with copies available on the day.
You are all invited to this public event!
