Conversation with Our Ocean

Conversation with Our Ocean.

Artists Ogilvie and Page have produced a new immersive audio-visual installation inspired by the seminal coastline here around the Solway Firth, in particular the saltmarshes that are important blue carbon sequestering ecosystems, key in regulating the climate.

Alongside the installation is an exhibition “From Sea to Sustainability: Ocean-Friendly Bioplastics”. Biodegradable bioplastics were created by pupils from Dalbeattie High School using sustainable materials such as algae derivatives in a workshop led by Katie Fowlie, blending creative expression with scientific inquiry

Elizabeth Ogilvie is an environmental artist working with a fusion of art/science, producing experiential installations using water and video as her main media. Robert Page is an artist-filmmaker whose work blurs the boundaries between documentary filmmaking and fine art, predominantly focusing on human activity in and on the environment.

The project will be exhibited 11am to 5pm from Saturday 29 March to Thursday 3 April at the Standard, Midsteeple Quarter, Dumfries.

The project was funded by EcoArt. www.ecoartcharity.org
