Solway Firth Partnership Annual General Meeting 2017

The Thirteenth Annual General Meeting of Solway Firth Partnership will be held at 2.00pm on Thursday 7 December 2017, at Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum, Former Control Tower, Tinwald Downs Rd, Heathhall Industrial Estate, Dumfries, DG1 3PH.

This will be followed by short presentations from:-

Brian Irving, Silloth-on-Solway Coastal Community Team - “Coastal Community Teams: Grass Roots Economic Growth?”

Naomi Hewitt, Solway Coast AONB - "Remembering the Solway, a Community History Project"

followed by a guided tour of the Aviation Museum

The event is Free but booking is essential as numbers are limited

The Solway Coast AONB and Cumbria Local Nature Partnership are working together on a project to help pollinating insects on the west coast of Cumbria. Complete a questionnaire to help inform the direction of the project and its activities here

John Gorrill has organised a series of community beach cleans along the Cumbrian Coast. More information here
History & Heritage of Bogs in Cumbria 

A two-day seminar is being held in Burgh by Sands, Cumbria on 1 and 2 November, to explore the fascinating but under-appreciated history and cultural aspects of peat bogs in and around Cumbria and the surrounding areas. The programme includes an interesting range of talks and field visits to see the bogs in action!

The event which is being organised by a partnership of local and national environmental organisations will involve and engage local people as well as professionals. The meeting will suit all those interested in peat bogs, peat landscapes, and their history, heritage and restoration.

SIMCelt Closing Conference, Liverpool

SIMCelt is a cross-border project involving partners from the UK Ireland and France. It aims to support cooperation between the Member States on the implementation of the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive in the Celtic Seas.

The results of the Marine Spatial Planning Project, SIMCelt, will be presented at a two-day conference in Liverpool on 28 to 29 November.

The event will feature interactive workshops and sessions on topics including future development scenarios, stakeholder engagement techniques, blue growth and land-sea interactions.
