Giant LEGO® brick Animal Trail Arrives at WWT Caerlaverock

News, April 2017

UK’s only giant LEGO® brick wetland animal trail arrives in Scotland

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust’s (WWT) giant LEGO brick animal trail, the only one of its kind in Scotland, will be launched at WWT Caerlaverock Wetland Centre on Saturday 6 May 2017.  This is the first time these amazing characters, especially created for WWT, have been seen in Scotland among the real life animals which inspired them.

As well as the trail, budding sculptors will be able to get creative at workshops and build their own mini Fred the frog figures to take home.  All proceeds will support WWT’s essential conservation work in the UK and around the world.

Through this trail, WWT is using the world’s most popular toy to encourage kids (and big kids) to build a better future for nature.  Visitors can enjoy the 11 individually-designed 4ft (1.5m) LEGO brick characters, at WWT Caerlaverock, for twelve weeks during the summer from Saturday 6 May to Sunday 30 July.

Solway Shore Walks

Ann Lingard’s low-tide shore walks on the Cumbrian side of the Solway have started again this month. This year the meeting place for all walks will be Allonby.  From there the walks head to Dubmill Point to enjoy the new Allonby Bay Marine Conservation Zone and its honeycomb-worm reefs.

Walks are free, dogs and children are very welcome, but booking is essential. Details of dates and times, how to book, where to meet and what to wear are on the Solway Shore Stories website along with other articles about the Solway. And why not check out the Solway Shore-walker blog

If you’d like to know more contact Ann at enquiries@annlingard.com – or listen to the radio broadcast as Ann and Radio 4’s Open Country presenter Caz Graham wander along the shore
