The 2018 Scottish Inshore Fisheries Conference takes place in Inverness on Friday 5 October.
Leaving the EU presents the Scottish Government with an opportunity to develop a new model of fisheries management for Scottish waters. This is a long-term commitment, and one which will rely on the involvement and collaboration of all stakeholders. The fifth Scottish Inshore Fisheries Conference is the ideal venue to discuss this issue within the context of the inshore fishing sector.
Delegates will have a selection of interesting workshops to participate in throughout the day, with some being led by fishing industry associations for the first time. There will be sessions on implementing the SIFIDS project, the potential of low impact fishing methods, involving coastal communities in local fisheries management, and improving the monitoring of inshore fishing activity.
