Marine planning North West: Plan development workshop Whitehaven

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is holding two marine plan development workshops in the north west: Whitehaven and Liverpool

Solway Firth Partnership will be helping with facilitation at the event in Whitehaven:

Whitehaven: Wednesday 7 February 2018, Beacon Portal, 9.30am-3.30pm

The workshop is an opportunity to feedback on the development of the north west marine plan. You will see how the north west marine plan is progressing, and how the information from previous engagements is being used. For more information click here

Exhibition of Paintings, WWT Caerlaverock
Visit the WWT Caerlaverock Wetland Centre to see the exhibition 'In Plain Sight' by local artist, Fraser Irvine.  This free exhibition aims to capture the stunning wild landscapes around Caerlaverock and the surrounding area. More information here

Crosscanonby Beach Clean
Join the litter pick at Crosscanonby beach from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.   All tools and equipment are supplied but participants are advised to wear suitable clothing, wellies and waterproofs. Dogs welcome. For more information for this event organised by John Gorrill click here

D&G Environment Fair, Rutherford McCowan, Crichton Campus, Dfs
Environmental fun and activities for all the family at the annual Environment Fair from 10.30am to 3.30pm.  Join our Solway Coastwise Project at the Fair to learn more about 'Caves and Graves' on the Solway! More information on Facebook by clicking here
Environment Agency Consultation  

The Environment Agency (EA) are consulting on their assessment of the Border Esk and River Eden salmon and sea trout stocks and the proposed new regulations that are designed to provide protection for those stocks.

The EA think that this consultation will be of particular interest to anyone who fishes for salmon and sea trout on the Border Esk, River Eden or Solway Firth. 

The consultation opened on 18 January and runs until 16 February 2018.

SMILE Project Funding Secured!

Solway Firth Partnership has been successful in their bid to the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) through Marine Scotland to fund the Solway Marine Information Learning and Education (SMILE) Project.

The newly appointed SMILE Project Officer, Emma Baruah, will be responsible for identifying gaps in existing data while gathering information and sharing knowledge through the development and production of the revised ‘State of the Solway’ review.
