The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) are now carrying out a survey as part of their marine plan monitoring for the north west marine plan areas as set out in the Marine and Coastal Access Act (2009) Section 61.
The MMO’s monitoring activity, including information gathered through surveys, is used to inform a three-yearly report to Parliament covering:
- The effects of policies in the marine plans
- The effectiveness of these policies in securing plan objectives
- The progress towards achieving any objectives set out for that region in a marine plan and the Marine Policy Statement
