Lobster Pot Luck – a day of ocean plastic exploration & a seafood lunch.
Saturday 9 March, 10am to 4pm at South Machars Community Centre, Whithorn.
Have you ever wondered where our ocean plastics originate, how far they travel, or pondered how we might put them to use and reuse? Did you know that along the Solway, lobster pot parts are washed up that local creel fishermen could reuse?
@dgclimatehub invites you to Lobster Pot Luck – a day of activities exploring ocean plastics and celebrating the invaluable work of volunteer beach cleaners. We’ll hear from Nic Coombey @solwayfirthpartnership about plastic journeys, creel fisherman John McGuire (@sassenach_seafoods_dg) about life on the waves before he serves up a warming seafood chowder made from his catch. (Veg option also available).
After lunch, make art from ocean plastics with @ecoartnews or try your hand at writing with @wastestories, before we gather round to watch a film about the sea and explore our relationship with our beautiful Solway.
FREE but booking essential. Free transport available from Stranraer, Glenluce, Port William & Kirkcudbright – select requirements in booking form.
