Inshore Fisheries Conference Proceedings

The third Scottish Inshore Fisheries Conference was held on Friday 9 October 2015 at Eden Court in Inverness and a summary of the proceedings of the event is now available.

Richard Lochhead MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Food and the Environment, launched the conference and delegates attended workshops/sessions on a variety of subjects as well as visiting stands from a range of organisations including MASTS, fishing federations, Seafish, Marine Scotland, Solway Firth Partnership and others.

The Year of Food and Drink Scotland 2015 has seen a wide range of events across the country and our high quality seafood is an integral component of this important national industry. This year’s conference continued the celebration of our fantastic seafood and provided an informal opportunity for policy makers to meet fishermen and others from around Scotland with an interest in inshore fishing. There were opportunities to share experiences and knowledge in an informal setting on a wide range of issues, including long-standing fisheries management challenges and actions, and proposals to improve the evidence base on which fisheries management decisions are made.
