Out of the Blue Publication Launch

Two new publications were launched recently at Isle of Whithorn as part of the Out of the Blue project: Fishy Tales and Fishy Dishes.

The booklet, Fishy Tales, complements the mobile exhibition of the same name, which is currently on display at Isle of Whithorn Church while Fishy Dishes is a collection of recipes using local catch.

Chair of the D & G Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) and D & G Councillor, Alistair Geddes, welcomed members of the local community to the event, including Richard Arkless MP, and thanked many of those who have been involved in making the project a success.  Those attending the launch were able to take a look at the newly installed information panel at Isle of Whithorn harbour which has been produced in the same style as two new panels on the harbourmaster’s office at Kirkcudbright.

All the material includes photographs by David Moses and Colin Tennant commissioned as part of the Out of the Blue project. All the promotional aspects of the Out of the Blue project carry ’Solway Seafood’ branding which has been developed by local company, Weesleekit Design.

The Out of the Blue project has been supported by funding from D & G Council and the European Fisheries Fund, which also enabled the restoration of Isle of Whithorn Church to accommodate a permanent local maritime heritage exhibition.
