New Marine Litter Fund Announced!

Sea Changers are thrilled to announce a new grant stream which will sit along side the Sea-Changers Grant Programme - A Marine Litter Fund.

This funding stream will run throughout 2018 and was made possible by a fantastic donation to Sea-Changers by the Gardeners Trust.  Approximately 60% of this funding will support projects in Scotland with 40% going elsewhere in the UK.

The Marine Litter Fund has the following objectives:

 - To address the root causes of marine litter in the UK.

 - To prevent or reduce marine litter impacting on UK coastal and marine environments and / or species.

 - To add to the body of knowledge about the nature and impact of marine litter in the UK.

If you are applying to conduct beach cleaning activities, Sea Changers will look favourably on projects that can demonstrate connections to existing wider beach clean activities (for example, Marine Conservation Society Beachwatch and Surfers Against Sewage Beach Cleans). They will also look more favourably on activities that are considering potential recycling options for material gathered (For example:Terracycle Beach Plastic Programme).

Evaluation criteria will be the same as for the main grant fund.

In addition, Sea-Changers has recently reviewed their existing grants policy and application process.

The latest round of applications for both funds is currently open, with a closing date 31st March 2018. The application process is very straight forward and the proportion of grants that are successful is generally over 50%.
