Value of Nature Conference - Free!

A free conference on the value of nature will be held on Friday 29 September in Whitehaven.

This one-day conference will consider the role of tourism in giving public value to nature and influencing decision-making. It will focus upon locations like the Solway Firth and the Lake District where the social, historic and symbolic value of nature can’t be easily expressed economically and yet have a high value in the public sphere.

This conference is a response to the 2017 UNWTO World Tourism Day, during the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. It is a collaboration between The Tourism Society, the University of Central Lancashire’s Applied Policy Science Unit and Policy Network, an international think-tank.
