Solway Coastwise to Feature on Border Life

On Monday 26 June Solway Firth Partnership’s Coastwise Project will be featuring on ITV’s Border Life.

Presenter Sandy McCracken explores the shoreline between Southerness and Portling to reveal an amazing coast where every place name tells a story.

Salt makers, sailors and smugglers have used the shore in the past and inspired place names for the many hidden features waiting to be discovered by curious visitors.

A hidden waterfall behind ‘Lot’s Wife’ is captured on an Edwardian postcard, ‘Piper’s Cave’, a natural cave extended by copper miners, is traditionally believed to be haunted by a piper who entered the cave and never returned and old maps show us where to find ‘Brandy Cove’ with its cave that looks like a scary skull.
