Coast to Coast with the SFP / Solway Coast AONB Conference

Coast presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff tops the bill at Solway Firth Partnership / Solway Coast AONB Joint Conference on Friday 25 November

A range of fascinating and thought provoking topics from both sides of the Solway are on the programme for this year’s conference.

The joint Solway Firth Partnership (SFP) and Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Conference will be held on Friday 25 November at Smiths Hotel, Gretna Green and there is still time to book your place.

The event is free of charge and includes a buffet lunch but places are limited so book quickly!

All things coastal and marine will be the order of the day at the conference.  Both SFP and the AONB promote care and understanding of the Solway Firth as well as integration between all its various interests.

The programme will span a wide range of subjects and include contributions from both sides of the Solway: Marine Scotland, the Marine Management Organisation, local Energy Companies, EON and Solway Energy Gateway, to name just a few.  Other presentation and discussion sessions will focus on marine conservation and the fascinating history of place names around the coast.

The highlight of the day will be a talk by Miranda Krestovnikoff who will talk about Our Coast from her own experience of having visited most of the UK’s coast during her filming career.  Miranda is also a keen diver and has a passion for wildlife and the natural world, along with a desire to connect people with the outdoors.

Brian Irving, Manager of the Solway Coast AONB said: “We are delighted to be running another joint conference with Solway Firth Partnership.  Together we are able to bring an amazing variety of subjects and issues to the day and hope that everyone who attends leaves knowing something new about their local coast!”

Clair McFarlan, Solway Firth Partnership Manager said: “We are really excited to welcome a fantastic range of speakers to Gretna Green including Miranda Krestovnikoff who will provide a great finale to the day.   There is a great range of topics being covered and plenty to stimulate debate about the Solway.”
