MMO Publish Statements of Public Participation

In April the MMO launched a consultation on the draft Statements of Public Participation (SPP) for the next phase of marine plans. As part of this they held a number of events across the four planning areas, to introduce marine planning and meet their new stakeholders.

The MMO would like to thank everyone who came along to the events and took part in the consultation.

They had a really positive response.

Since the consultation closed in May the MMO have taken into consideration the feedback from the consultation and from government. In July George Eustice, Minister of State (Defra) approved the SPPs  for the north west, north east, south east and south west marine plans.  SPPs are a requirement of the MCAA 2009.

The SPP describes how and when the MMO will engage with stakeholders throughout the development of a marine plan and what they will do with the outcomes of any views and opinions. It includes a proposed timetable of engagement for the four marine plans, including key milestones over the next four years.

The Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Scoping Report for the north west west marine plan areas is now available.

The report has been produced in response to comments made as part of the public consultation which was held in April this year. Along with the main report, it also includes a number of report cards which provide more details on the different areas that the Sustainability Appraisal will take into consideration.
