Rockcliffe Bioblitz

Rockcliffe Bioblitz on Sunday 8 June 2014
Join us for 24 hours of wildlife recording on the beach and in the woods and meadows around Rockcliffe near Dalbeattie.  The event starts with Dumfries and Galloway Bat Group leading a Bat Walk on the Saturday night (7 June) and a ranger led Dawn Chorus bright and early at 4.00am on Sunday morning.  Booking is essential for both walks on 07447 917 517.

Then on Sunday 8 June just turn up at Rockcliffe beach from 10.00am onwards – everyone welcome! - and either join a guided walk (leaving hourly on the hour) or take a recording form and do your own thing.  The aim is to record as many different species as possible in 24 hours, be it a wild flower, butterfly, sea shell … anything you can’t identify, photograph it or bring it back to the centre and our experts will try to help.

Organised by Solway Firth Partnership “Making the Most of the Coast” project in partnership with National Trust for Scotland, D&G Environmental Resources Centre and the D&G Council Ranger Service.

There is no charge for this event.  Please park in the car park on the left as you enter Rockcliffe village (Grid Reference NX851535, post code DG5 4QH).
