Activities This sheltered sandy bay with rocky outcrops is good for families and has the advantage of a large grass covered parking / picnic area behind the beach. At low tide a large area of wet sand is exposed, which can be muddy in some areas, where the wreck of the ‘Monreith’ can be visited. Senwick Shore walk can be accessed via the access road to the small settlement immediately south of the car park. It follows the coastline south with fine views across Krikcudbright Bay and includes the old Senwick graveyard, see www.kirkcudbright.co.uk
Local Atrractions The Artists town of Kirkcudbright includes McLellans Castle, Broughton House, Stewartry Museum and many more attractions.
Description

The Dhoon shore has a number of small sheltered sandy beaches between rocky outcrops. Shallow water means a large expanse of wet sand is exposed at low tide. The beach can occasionally be very busy in the summer but the adjacent grass parking / picnic area provides plenty of space. Facing east this beach is best in the morning. There are great views across Kirkcudbright Bay and to the lighthouse perched on Little Ross Island.

Water quality advice signs.
