The Dhoon shore has a number of small sheltered sandy beaches between rocky outcrops. Shallow water means a large expanse of wet sand is exposed at low tide. The beach can occasionally be very busy in the summer but the adjacent grass parking / picnic area provides plenty of space. Facing east this beach is best in the morning. There are great views across Kirkcudbright Bay and to the lighthouse perched on Little Ross Island.
