DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY WILDLIFE FESTIVAL - 2-18 April 2010

2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity and the festival offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone to see and learn about the fabulous wildlife in Dumfries and Galloway.  Further details are available in the event booklet on our downloads page

NSSAC DIVING LESSONS - 8th February 2010

Have a go at Scuba diving in a safe swimming pool environment with Newton Stewart Sub Aqua Club.  The club wil be begining a 10 week course of lessons at 7.30 pm on Monday nights from 4th Feb 2010 at the pool in Newton Stewart.  For more information please contact Secretary Jim Gibson at james.gibson4@homecall.co.uk

MIND IN WEST CUMBRIA - April - June 2010

Mind in West Cumbria has an exciting programme of events from April to June

Mondays; Beachcomber – Maryport 10am -2pm.  Meet at Educational Settlement; Walk or cycle 11am-1pm when staff times permit Workington Mind in West Cumbria

Tuesdays; Mansion House garden session – 10am – 2pm (includes conservation activity leading to John Muir Award) Mind in West Cumbria Workington

Wednesdays; Workington Activity Day –Canoeing/Walking/Cycling, times depend on activity – call for details 01900 66518.  Mansion House garden session 10am-2pm.  Mind in West Cumbria Workington

Thursday; Beachcomber St Bees with people from Copeland area 11am -2pm.  Ring 01900 66518 for meeting arrangements

The Beachcomber is a new project which uses the beach and adjacent areas to do leisure activities such as kite flying and games, educational activities such as learning about wildlife by bird watching, rock pooling and using Maryport Aquarium facilities, learning about history by looking at museums on wet days and walking around  historical sites on better days, conservation activities leading to  the John Muir Award and team building activities such as cooking and sharing food.

In addition on the first Monday of each month there are One Taster Day, including walking, cycling, ghyll scrambling, climbing, and water based activities with Cumbria Outdoors.  Each day starts at Mind in West Cumbria at 9.30 and gets back there by around 16.30.
