JAN-FEB 2009 - Guide in the hide at Wigtown Bay

2pm until duskThe guide in the hide events are provided by Dumfries and Galloway Council Ranger Service to allow people who are interested in learning more about birds to find out more about the birds of Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve and Castle Field Wetland.  The Ranger Service provided a knowledgeable guide, binoculars and a telescope for visitors to use and wildlife identification books to find out more about what you are seeing. 4th JANUARY 2009 - Wildfowl and waders

MARCH 2009 - Wild Goose Chase

March 2009 will be a month long goose extravaganza with goose events celebrating Dumfries and Galloway’s geese, they are ours for only a short time before we have to share them again as they make their way north to the Artic.  The Wild Goose Chase is a partnership project funded Dumfries and Galloway Council and involving the National Trust for Scotland, RSPB, the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust and of course the geese.  See here for more information.

19th JANUARY 09 - AONB Volunteer recruitment talk and slide show

Graeme Proud is the Solway Coast Volunteer Co-ordinator and he will be giving a talk about volunteer work within the AONB.  COme along and get involved!  Solway Coast Discovery Centre, Lidell St, Silloth 2pm - 4pm Monday 19th January.

21st FEBRUARY 2009 - AONB Hedgelaying Competition

The 6th Solway Coast AONB North Cumberland Style Hedgelaying Competition will be held at Rogerscleugh Farm nr Anthorn on Saturday 21st February 2009.  There's also a FWAG hedgelaying training day too, to help preserve and promote this traditional style of land managment.  For more information telephone Rose Wolfe on 016973 33055 Mon - Fri 9am - 4pm
